You might want to consider chiropractic care to correct your lumbar pain. Definitely cheaper than buying one of the $2,000 orthopedic beds out in the market right now. Chances are that it is not your mattress. Your spine may be out of line.

A couple of things #1 if you have the cash get a new mattress, a quality mattress, this will do the job. #2, Poor man's solution, a piece of plywood between the box springs and the mattress, Sleeping on the floor always works for me and I've discovered that a "Therma Rest" Blowup mattress works as well. Visit a chiropractor you might need an adjustment. And do stretching exercises for the lower back. And recently I've started taking a supplement called "Ligaplex" with great results. Good luck!

I am not a doctor, but my husband was having pain in his chest, and back. He thought he was having a heart attack. He had recently had a cold also. We went to the e.r., and after a chest x-ray, they told us he had pleurisy. It is mucus, or fluid around your lung causing pain. The doctor explained it to us like this. He said it was like pneumonia, only instead of being inside the lung, it's outside the lung. I suggest you get to a doctor, and find out what is wrong. Normally it isn't your heart if the pain comes and goes, but you never know.

Best thing you can do for a muscle strain (which I suspect it is), is to use ice & advil/motrin for inflammation & pain. Taking tylenol might help the pain, but it won't help with the swelling.

If you report to your supervisor that you feel this way, I would hope they assign you alternate duties for a few days to avoid further damage.

Usually things like this resolve with a little bit of rest, but there is a fine line between continuing to be active and re-injuring yourself.

Be sensible, and take it easy.

EDIT:

If you have already reported this to a supervisor at work, they may want you to have it checked out by their worker's comp physician / clinic. If you haven't done so yet, that is the reason I suggested you do so.

Good question. Best answer is always get advice from a doctor, of course with what is going on these day with doctors it is hard to get the right diagnosis. You can always go to for some great medical advice and wonderful answers as well. If you had a cold recently, it does sound like some of the symptoms as well, but once again best to seek professional in these cases. Good luck
