Is the pain of a tattoo so bad on the back of the ankle?
September 15th, 2008 | by Karina |mariatechmaniac asked:
I’m thinking to get my first tattoo on the back of my ankle but I’m reading a lot that the pain is unbearable and it’s not the place for your first tattoo. What would you say about that? Will the pain be the same at the side of the ankle?

it’s going to hurt no matter where you get it done on your body
it depends on the person how much they feel it
some ppl would tell you it may feel like a scratch from a cat. others a hot burning dull itch
it’s always different for everyone
my first tattoo was on my ankle when i was 18yo. it didn’t hurt much at all. my toes curled once when he hit a nerve. we both got a laugh out of that.
i even had it re colored a few yrs after and it was okay.
i’m also going to get it colored again just to freshen it up since it’s 12 yrs old now.

I had my first on my hip! And then the second on my shoulder which was better. It may possibly hurt more, it depends on how you are with pain, and how big it will be.
Maybe try a small one somewhere else first.

Pain is part of the process. You are making a permanent mark on your body and should give the thought and consideration to your decision that this deserves.
Anyway, the more it hurts, the better the rush when you’re done. Done properly it should be a spiritual process!

I’d say that one of the most painful areas of the body to get tattooed is the best spot for your first tattoo. At the age of seventeen, just about a year ago, I got my very first tattoo done, and it’s on my foot. My tattoo is four inches by one to one and half inches, and it begins on my ankle, forms an arch, and ends toward the lower center of my foot. I couldn’t be any happier I got this one done first, not only due to the meaning it carries for me, but due to the pain I endured. This only took a total of approximately twenty minutes and I had one of my two best friends by my side. I did have to clench my seat with both hands throughout the process, but it’s done!
Once you get a tattoo done on your foot, just about any other tattoo you may get will not seem as painful, though there are other locations that have proven to be rather painful. These include the ribs, inner biceps, and there are others. I intend to get quite a large tattoo done on the back of my upper left arm, very likely touching my inner bicep, but, anyway…you do what ultimately makes you happy. Another thing is, once this tattoo’s done, you’ll feel like a freakin’ warrior! :^D

All tattoos hurt, but not that bad for everybody!
It depends how do u tolerate pain and how is size of the tattoo!
Of course it’s bearable - come on, you won’t die of a pain!
If u want tattoo so bad just get it and screw the pain!!!!
i have got 3 tattoos and i’m still alive XD!
don’t worry it won’t be that bad i’m sure!
Don’t be afraid of a pain! I know that u feel nervous when u r getting ur first tattoo the same was with me - but at the end it was all ok!

That is because there is hardly any fat there, it hurts but all tattoos hurt.

I had one done on my ankle and was surprised at how little pain there was. But everybody’s different. Some people are more tolerant of pain. Get the tattoo where you want it to be, and if the artist has to stop for a while and continue on another day, that’s fine. It happens.
